Bone and skin health:
An apple a day keeps the doctor away, but three to four apples may
supply the requirement of boron in a woman's body and prevent or reduce
the loss of mineral from the bones, (osteoporosis). Boron also helps to
maintain balance between the production of estrogen and testosterone,
and is important for the health of your skin, hair and nails.
Foods also rich in boron are found in almonds, pears, raisins, peaches,
peas, beans and lentils. If taking a supplement, a daily value has not
been set, but 1 - 2 milligrams per day may be beneficial and safe.
Breast tenderness:
Try Evening Primrose Oil (500 mg), which is a rich source of gamma
linolenic acid is excellent for breast tenderness, and the unpleasant
hot flashes associated with menopause.
Heavy Bleeding:
Cinnamon bark:
Besides being excellent for diarrhea, it also helps to regulate sugar
levels in diabetics, invigorates the blood, balances the menstrual cycle
and checks flooding.
Sip a cup twice a day and get into the habit of sprinkling cinnamon on
almost everything you eat. I sprinkle cinnamon powder on my tea and
cereal, and have for years. I like to think of this sweet spice as
making my tea 'gourmet' while deriving its health benefits.
Red Raspberry Tea:
Excellent uterine tonic for women in general, helps with controlling
heavy bleeding during a woman's cycle.
Ginger:A
family friend gave me a bag of Ginger chews, and as I started eating two
or three chews several times a week, I noticed my digestion feels
better, I sleep better, my body feels pretty comfortable, my blood
pressure is lower; I forget I am experiencing perimenopause!
Ginger is a pungent herb that is a general overall body tonic and is
used mainly for nausea during pregnancy, or chemotherapy, or when
traveling; its also excellent for arthritis or any conditions having to
do with inflammation as it has anti antiinflammatory properties; studies
have also found ginger shrinks cancerous tumors; most women are not
aware ginger is excellent for menopause symptoms especially PMS cramps
and hot flashes, so its good for women at all stages of their feminine
cycle.
In a nutshell ginger is a good antioxidant and tonic for the body,
promotes circulation, helps with nausea, arthritis, tumors, cholesterol,
blood pressure, PMS and hot flashes.
Make it a habit to carry ginger chews in your purse, or learn to cook
with ginger. Don't overdo it though, a few bites here and there several
times a week will do the trick!
